Why Balance Pads?
By placing the horse on an unstable surface (various pads), you activate the small, local stabilizing muscle groups that are crucial for the horse’s global stability and strength.
When the horse feels safe and relaxed on the pads, you can introduce exercises to make the training setup progressive. Tips for exercises and routines for the thoracic sling, core, and pelvis can be found in our app Equibodybalance (249 SEK, no subscription required).
The firm pad is suitable for horses around 600 kg or more. Other horses, such as weak, injured, insecure, or horses with arthritis, can also benefit from starting with the firm pad.
The medium pad is suitable for horses between 475–575 kg but can also be used for heavier horses if you want to work specifically on the hindquarters or if the horse is already relatively stable, such as Quarter Horses and cold-blooded breeds.
The soft pad is a good starting plate for lighter ponies and Icelandic horses, or if you have a horse that needs more challenge than the medium pad can offer.
